About Antioch21 Church
Our name comes from the Roman city in modern day Turkey where the people of the 1st century church were first called “Christians” because they were so much like Christ. These early followers of Christ were so obviously different from their culture that people noticed their love and devotion to Jesus, as well as their love and service to others. We want to be known for this same quality here in 21st Century America.
We believe that there are three essential ingredients that, when present, bring the “good news” of God’s Kingdom to people everywhere.
THEY CAN BE SUMMED UP IN:
- Gospel (God’s love for us found in Jesus’ cross)
- Community (belonging together and connected by the Spirit as Jesus’ body)
- Mission (Jesus’ love expressed in us by serving others)
Our Mission
“While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ Immediately, they left their nets and followed him
— Matt. 4:18-20
Antioch21 Church exists to actually live God’s Kingdom now (by believing and living the “good news” of Jesus). We do this as a community of called out people who live life together as a holy body to carry forth the gospel of Christ, sent out as both gospel neighbors and gospel messengers. We are also one Church consisting of many gospel communities – “One Church, of many churches”.
We exist on this earth as Jesus’ body (Church) as one community of people: Encountering Jesus personally (Christ), Experiencing the cross daily, and Expressing the gospel always (Mission).
